Dr Zafrullah calls to contribute Food, meat for 20,000 poor people

Ganashastha Kendra Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has urged the well-off people in society to contribute as an initiative has been taken to provide 20,000 poor people with food and meat in the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
In a state to media issued on Thursday (June 16), Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “The poor people in the country cannot enjoy the Eid-ul-Azha as prices of daily commodities have skyrocketed. There is no way for them except shedding tears on Eid day.”
“Around three crores people will be deprive of Eid happiness. Though we cannot afford to provide assistance to such a huge number of people, we can stand beside sever lakhs of people. For this reason, Ganashastha Kenda has taken an initiative to provide food and meat to some 20000 people,” he further said.
Ganashastha Kendra officials and employees have donated 5 percent of their one-month salary and a fund of Tk 50 lakh has created, Zafrullah said. “But we need Tk 1.5 crore to give food assistance to 20,000 people.”
He made an appeal to well-off people and businessmen in the country to send money via bKash to make this noble move successful.
Dr Zafrullah said, “A total of 53,000 Muslims are going to Hajj pilgrimage this year from Bangladesh. If they donate Tk 10,000 each, some six lakh people can enjoy the Eid days. Allah (SW) will be more pleased if they do so.”
Ganashastha Kendra has taken a decision to give a package of food including four kilograms rice, half kilogram meat, half liter soybean oil, two kilograms atta, potato, salt, chilli powder and spices to each of 20,000 poor people in the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. All donations for humanity are free from tax.
