Amitabh Bachchan shares priceless pictures with wife Jaya Bachchan as a bride on 48th wedding anniversary

One thing everyone loves about megastar Amitabh Bachchan is that he celebrates every milestone in his life, be it big or small. Milestones such as his first live performance at the Madison Square Garden in New York, completing 52 glorious years in Bollywood – he never fails to appreciate such special moments.

Once again, as he and his wife Jaya Bachchan mark 48 years of being blissfully married, Big B took to his social media accounts to cherish their love. The actor shared a collage of two unseen photographs from their wedding in 1973. The collage features pictures of Jaya dressed as a bride. She looks resplendent in red as she opted for the traditional red wedding outfit. She is seen rounding off her look with gorgeous gold jewellery, bindi and a veil.

As for Big B, the actor complimented his ladylove in a cream coloured sherwani. While one photo in the collage features a close-up of Jaya, the other captured the moment when Big B put ‘sindoor’ on Jaya’s forehead. Thanking his fans for all the love on their anniversary, Big B wrote, ‘June 3 , 1973 .. thank you all for your greetings on our Anniversary.’ ‘Happy anniversary sir and Jaya ma’am!! God bless’, actress Aahana Kumra wrote. Bhumi Pednekar wished the golden couple and wrote, ‘Happy anniversary legends.’ ‘Happpppppyyyy Anniversary @amitabhbachchan ji and Jaya aunty , wishing you many more years of love and happiness’, wished Shilpa Shetty.

Rahul Dev also wished the acting legend and his wife and wrote, ‘A very happy and blessed anniversary Dear Sir.’ Besides celebrities, several fans also extended congratulatory messages to the couple. Also, just FYI, if you thought it was the silver screen where the country’s most celebrated couple met, you’re wrong! In an old interview, the actor revealed that he first took a good look at Jaya Bhaduri (then) on the cover of a magazine.

He apparently always wanted to marry the kind of woman who was a perfect blend of traditional with a modern outlook, and he thought Jaya came across exactly like that in the picture. He also said that the thing which really caught his attention was her beautiful eyes. It was much later that filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee came up with the script of ‘Guddi’ where their love blossomed.
