trong condemnation and protest against the burning of the Holy Quran with the assistance of the Swedish government

Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir strongly condemns and protests the burning of the Holy Quran on the holy day of Eid-ul-Adha, with the assistance of the Swedish government.

In a joint statement, Central President of the organisation Razebur Rahman and Secretary General Monzurul Islam said, “We express deep anger and concern over the regular practice of burning the Holy Quran in Sweden, a self-proclaimed civilized state. On the holy day of Eid-ul-Adha, two people set fire to the Holy Quran publicly under police security. Their action not only dishonors the Quran but also deeply hurt the sentiments of Muslims and peace-loving people worldwide.

No civilized nation or country should attack anyone’s religious belief in such a manner. In previous incidents in 2020 and 2022, similar acts were carried out by extremists in Sweden. These heinous acts sparked violence in different parts of the world, resulting in numerous casualties. Consequently, Sweden has garnered contempt and hatred from not only Muslims but also conscience person across the world.

More shameful is that these extremists have perpetrated this heinous act under the permission and protection of the Swedish government and police. While countries like Sweden continue to portray themselves as civilized and respectful, it is incomprehensible how such an abominable attack on religious belief can be considered a reflection of their civilization. These acts cannot be justified as free speech; rather, they represent audacious displays under the guise of freedom of speech. The Swedish government’s support of extremists has shocked the world.

We urge the international community, including Muslim leaders, to consider whether these are mere insults or part of a deeper conspiracy against global tranquility. Simultaneously, we call upon all peace-loving individuals and bodies, including the United Nations, OIC, and Arab League to take effective measures to curb such evil activities.

Many Muslim countries have already strongly protested against this heinous act. The government of Bangladesh should also issue an immediate statement of protest, summon the Swedish ambassador, and express strong objection. Silence of some leaders in the face of such audacity is tantamount to supporting this heinous incident.

Therefore, Muslim leaders must unite and take effective measures to prevent Sweden from supporting to these provocative extremist activities immediately.”

Chhatrashibir leaders further stated, “Do not test the patience of Muslims. Muslims believe in peace. However, if the Holy Quran, which is more beloved by Muslims than their own lives, is insulted, it does not mean that we will remain silent. Rather, protesting against such acts in an orderly manner is a demand rooted in every Muslim’s faith.”

We demand the immediate arrest and severe punishment of those criminals who set fire to the Holy Quran. Failure to do so will result in the Swedish government being held accountable for any adverse consequences. The world will undoubtedly view them as terrorists.
